MOC 1. Futuristic War SUV

Main Image (click to view larger)
Here is my second (including my Futuristic Soldier MOC) MOC for Lego Spy. It's called a War SUV and I built it a few months ago when I just picked up a few pieces and started building (that's the great thing about Legos)! In the front it has a extended front bumper to protect it from obstacles or oncoming vehicles. On the sides and top it has 3 mounted double machine guns (there Lego! Sideways building since you seem to be desperate for it!) I did discover something cool while building this though, the 1x2 plate with two bars attached to the side can be pretty awesome (see picture below). In the back we have a pair of antennas for connecting to satellites in space to find enemy locations. There is also the strange coupling device, now why did I put that there? For the epic mini ATV of course! The ATV is equipped with two manned long-range machine guns, and a front mounted laser cannon (is it just me or dose that not fit?). I was amazed with how great the front of the ATV looks, the tinted clear driving compartment. Hope you liked my newest MOC! I plan to be posting more MOCs more often from now on. Also I have a special mini MOC theme I plan to be starting early March so stay tuned to Lego Spy.

Lego Indiana Jones: 7625 River Chase

Today my Old Set Review will be for 7625 River Chase from Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The set retailed for $19.99 (USD) and was released early 2008. This set includes 4 minifigures and 234 pieces. To start off this OSR I'll start with the minifigures. Marion Ravenwood: uncommon black hair piece, nice double sided head (smiling/scared), great tan jacket torso, and plain tan pants. Indiana Jones: well, you know, it's Indy :-). 2 Russian Soldiers: Some nice olive (?) green pieces for the body, and the heads are the same ones for all the Russian soldiers? The hats are a nice addition to any Lego collection.
The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sets really are great, and they look really nice if you put them all together in one scene (I know this personally since I have all these sets), so I think this is one of the best subthemes that can be easily displayed in one scene! Anyway, back to the set: the tree is nice, lots of tree pieces for MOCs (lots of leaves too), the duckboat is very nice except for the fact that two minifigures can't sit in the chairs at once because they're too close together, and the Russian boat is nice too (you don't see many of this boat in gray). So it all adds up to a pretty nice set, a great addition to an Indiana Jones KotCS collection. This is the Lego Spy, out. ALSO BE SURE TO VOTE IN THE POLL FOR THE NEXT OSR ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS PAGE. You don't have to be logged into anything, just choose your answer and click "vote", it's that easy.

Galaxy Squad Update

These so called scorpions shown at the German Toy Fair are actually Mosquitoid/Buggoid larvae. At the German Toy Fair they were sitting on the table portrayed as a sort of scorpion looking creature (pic 1.). But shown in the picture below (pic 2.) (from 70708's box art) they are obviously flying insect-like animals. So any opinion I had about the ant from Indiana Jones is automatically canceled out. :-) Sorry for confusing anyone!

NY Toy Fair 2013

Finally we get a bunch of new Lego news from the New York Toy Fair! There's a lot, so I'm not (obviously) going to put all the pictures of the sets on here but I'll put a few of my favorites (✰) on instead. So today we have Galaxy Squad, Star Wars, Games, Lord of the Rings, Castle, and The Lone Ranger (updates) (since, on this blog, I'm focusing mainly on sets with minifigures I will be not be including Hero Factory and Friends, click them for links to the pages with them). Let's start with Galaxy Squad, there was really only one whole new set shown, that was 70706 Crater Creeper, however the rest of 70708 Hive Crawler is now shown.
70706 Crater Creeper $19.99
70708 Hive Crawler $69.99 ✰
Now we have Star Wars (click for link to alternate images)! Lots of new stuff today, so let's get to it!
75015 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid $19.99
75017 Duel on Geonosis $39.99 ✰
75018 JEK-14's Stealth Starfighter $69.99
75019 AT-TE $89.99
75020 Jabba's Sail Barge $119.99
75021 Republic Gunship $119.99
75022 Mandalorian Speeder $24.99
75023 2013 Advent Calendar $39.99
Since the Games are kind of hard to distinguish I'll have a link to all of them on Toy Ark here.
Lord of the Rings has four new sets that look quite nice:
79005 The Wizard Battle  $12.99
79006 The Council of Elrond $29.99
79007 Battle at the Black Gate $59.99
79008 Pirate Ship Ambush $99.99 ✰
We also have the the new 2013 (constantly recurring) Castle theme! Only one set here that we didn't get a very good look at from the German Toy Fair so I thought I'd post the new image of:
70400 Forest Ambush!

Click here to view the other 2013 Castle sets.
And last but not least we have a few updates on the Lone Ranger sets' prices:
79106 Calvary Builder Set......Real Price: $19.99 $12.99
79107 Comanche Camp.....Real Price: $29.99 $19.99
70109 Colby City Duel.....Real Price: $69.99 $49.99 ✰
79110 Silver Mine Shootout.....Real Price: $89.99 $59.99
79111 Constitution Train Chase......Real Price: $129.99 $99.99

These sets all look really great, I'll be covering Legends of Chima tomorrow. This is the Lego Spy, out. Now here are a few of my favorites (✰):
✰ The Hive Crawler from Galaxy Squad looks great, the wheels on the bottom make the legs move in a bug-like manner and shoots the included bug larvae eggs out of the back where the crack and release the creature!
✰ Duel of Geonosis has some nice pieces, a Yoda (with new head), Count Dooku, and a brand new minifigure for Poggle the Lesser!
✰ The new Lord of the Rings Pirate Ship Ambush comes with a large, fully detailed ship, ghost minifigures, and some great sails!
✰ Colby City Duel's sheriff office is very large and well detailed, with a cannon to top it all off! It's other building, the bank, has an exploding wall and nice design!

Lego Indiana Jones: 7624 Jungle Duel

Welcome to my first ever Lego OSR (O-Old, S-Set, R-Review). Today I will give a review on Indiana Jones 7624 Jungle Duel. So, this set came out in 2008, it has 90 pieces, and was one of only two sets to include ants. I have the whole collection of Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sets so I will have some of those in my future Lego OSRs (not including the Comic-Con 2008 exclusive set). Anyway, back to the set, this set was priced at $9.99 USD and was the least expensive of the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sets (beside the BrickMaster set which was free). Now for the review, let's start with the minifigures. Irina Spalko: strange head, the appearance in general doesn't strike me as Irina Spalko from the movie, her torso however is quite accurate to the movie, and her legs match the plain gray pants she wears as well, plus her hair is good also. Mutt Williams: nice head, pretty good impersonation of LaBeouf (but it could be a bit better), torso is great, however, it wouldn't be great for MOC bikers because it has the name "mutt" on the right side of the front, dark blue pants, kind of uncommon, very nice piece, the hair is kind of off though, he doesn't have bangs. And last but (of course) not least, Indiana Jones: well it's the same head as all the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sets, I think they should have made a new head for the KCS sets since Ford was older by that point! Yep the same torso for what seems like every single Indiana Jones set (even though it's not), but I like it, it's a nice piece, and the legs look kind of like the legs of some guy, I don't know, I think his name was Han Solo? His hat is always a nice addition to any Lego collection. Now, the rest of the set. Tent: this is awesome, that's all I really need to say, I makes a great army camp tent or camping trip scene look great! The tent is made of a soft piece of some sort of cloth, not plastic. Table and bench with accessories: pretty nice, the breaking function can be annoying if your trying to display it (it can break (meant to happen) but it can be easily remedied with a piece or two attached to the top, like the map), average bench, nothing special, nice accessories, lamp, map, mug, pan, chicken, backpack, and banana. Sword stand (I don't truly get this thing's meaning, it's included in two sets but it's use is unknown, perhaps it's a weapon choice stand for Spalko?): a few nice swords and plant pieces, other than that, not very significant. And finally... The ants! These are great, they look like ants, except for the fact that they're half the size of a minifigure, even more deadly! This set comes with three! Well, I hope you liked this review and I hope this has helped you in some way or another. This is the Lego Spy, out. Don't forget to vote in the poll on the right of this page!

German Toy Fair - City, Castle, Chima, Creator, and MORE Galaxy Squad!?

Welcome back to Lego Spy, sorry this was posted late but I was busy earlier. Anyway, there's so many Lego City sets I'm not going to list them and host pictures, so I have a list of links to the pictures on flickr.
So let's begin with City:

60020 Cargo Truck
60021 Cargo Heliplane
60022 Cargo Terminal
60025 Grand Prix Truck (far right on image for 60011, 60012, and 60013)
????? ???
Coast Guard (subtheme):
60011 Surfer Rescue (left on image)
60012 4x4 and Diving Boat (right on image)
60013 Coast Guard Helicopter (center of image)
60014 Coast Guard Patrol

Castle makes a return in 2013:
70400 Forest Ambush (bottom right of table)
70401 Gold Getaway (bottom left of image)
70402 The Gatehouse Raid (center of image)
70403 Dragon Mountain
70404 King's Castle

Creator:
31010 Treehouse
31012 Family House

Chima:
70008 Gorzan's Gorilla Striker (top right)
70010 The Lion Chi Temple (top left)

And some more images of Galaxy Squad!
First, my worry of content in 70709 Galactic Titan has vanished. It comes with a little bug-caterpillar train and a mini bug base with cocoon torture area? Awesome! :-P
Secondly, we have 70707 CLS-89 Eradicator Mech. It's a very nice set with nice detail and pieces, especially two bug vehicles with awesome abdomen pieces! This is the Lego Spy, out.
