Ninjago 2014: Cryptor Minifigure Leaked

Hello people, I know i'ts been a very long time since my last post, but I've been busy (like everyone) and didn't have much time to work on my posts here, but here you go:

In case you didn't know, the popular Lego Ninjago theme ended earlier this year, or did it. Nope, it didn't.:-)
It appears that it will focus on... Robots? We'll have to wait for set images for that.

Here we have the first minifigure and the first material object to prove it's reality that was leaked by an ebay seller who mysteriously owns one...
The minifigure's name is Cryptor, he appears to be leaving Garmadon back with his bones as the new main villain.

To me he looks great and I don't see any of his pieces that couldn't be used for a MOC. He has a silver arm, a great shoulder armor piece, great ninja meets robot torso and legs, and a great head as well.

And to clear up any confusion, this minifigure is 100% genuine Lego and is not custom-made whatsoever, which we know from this:
This image was posted on the official Lego Ninjago Facebook page earlier today (9/24/2013) with the message: "Lego Ninjago is about to embark on the next chapter. Are you ready to reboot?" Heck yeah, I am!

SDCC 2013!

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in forever but here's the news from the San Diego Comic Con. :-)
-AT-AP
-Pieces: 717 (A fair price per piece for this one)
-Theme: Star Wars
-Price: $69.99
-Release: March 2013 (*All of these apply to the United States only)
-Lake Town Chase
-Pieces: 334 (o_O That's a pretty bad price per piece)
-Theme: The Hobbit
-Price: $49.99
-Release: Unknown

And of course... Mixels?

What are these things? It appears they'll be based on a Cartoon Network television series (produced by Lego?). And I have to admit, the look kind of cu- stupid. The only reason I would buy these is for those one-stud ball joints! For the OSBJ (O-One S-Stud B-Ball J-Joint) people I think the one on the left will be the one to buy. Here is a link to the official Lego teaser website.
That's it. That's all that SDCC had to offer. It's kind of sad... :-(

Anyways, this is the Lego Spy, out. :-)

The Lego Movie

Finally! An update on The Lego Movie! For those of you who had not heard about it before this, it's Lego's second feature-length film (if you consider The Adventures of Clutch Powers (2010) as one, which wasn't exactly, in all respect... That good), and will include voice actors Chris Pratt, Will Ferrel, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, and Alison Brie (wow, I know a few of those people :P). It is being produced by Village Roadshow Pictures and is planned to be in theaters February 14 2014. (It's hitting theaters Valentine's Day People!) Here is the official press release from iMDB:

"The LEGO Movie follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure
who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Emmet
(Chris Pratt) is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey
for which he is hopelessly and hilariously under prepared."

I, personally, can't wait too see what they come up with. I mean come on, it's in theaters!

10234 Sydney Opera House

Hey everyone, Lego Spy here with some Lego news: 10234 Sydney Opera House from the Creator theme.
This set is so awesome! It even includes an awesomely overpriced price tag! -_- ($319.99 USD, wow.)
This set is pretty neat and definitely crushes it's predecessor, 21012 Sydney Opera House from the Architecture theme (270 pieces, $39.99 USD). This set features 2,989 pieces and amazing detail. Look at the white section's curves, and the way it all seems to flow. :-) What do you think about it? This is the Lego Spy, out.

70701 Swarm Interceptor

Hi everyone, I thought I might start a series where I take a set review I've posted on Lego.com. For the first one I thought I'd do a Galaxy Squad set: 70701 Swarm Interceptor. Here is a link to 70701 on the Lego Shop website. Sorry for those who don't speak English. For your assistance here is a link to the Microsoft Translator page to translate my reviews. :-)

Lego Analysis + Ewok Village

Hello everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a LONG time but I finally have some time to try out my new Lego Analysis! I love Legos but sometimes their setups are somewhat "odd". Also note that this is all in fun and that I am in no way attempting to criticize Lego. :-) Take this set for example: 60014 Coast Guard Patrol. At first sight, the box looks completely normal. It's not until you start to look at it closely that things start to seem a little unusual. Let's start this one off now with the aforementioned set:
Here is the box, looks normal right? (sorry for the no-good picture :P)
Here comes the weird stuff:
"What are we supposed to do with these yellow things!?"
"Anyone want a popsicle?"
"Check out the cool sub doggy!"
Why aren't they wearing their life jackets? What's with the popsicle? What are those two looking at? ^^^
"See anything up there?" "No, I think we better think about headin' home for the day."
Oh my gosh I'm sorry about the picture. :-(
None of them are looking at the crashed boat! Seriously, they seem to be completely ignoring these people offering them popsicles and awing at their epic submarine!

Hope you liked it and I'll try to get another one up soon! BTW the new Lego Ewok Village has been announced and will be released on September 1st! :-)

This is the Lego Spy, out. :-)

10237 Tower of Orthanc

Finally, some news! Today we have 10237 Tower of Orthanc for The Lord of the Rings. It will be available for $199.99 USD during July of this year (2013). The set will include 5 minifigures a buildable (there's a new word for you) Ent and a tower. But this is no ordinary tower, I think this thing has got to be the tallest Lego set in history. The Tower of Orthanc looms over other Lego towers at an amazing 28" (inches) tall! The five included minifigures are: Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf the Grey, an Uruk-Hai, and the "Orc Pitmaster" (as according to the official press release). Speaking of the press release, here it is:

Finally, collect one of the most instantly recognizable and iconic buildings of The Lord of the Rings trilogy: The Tower of Orthanc! Build all 6 highly detailed floors filled with fascinating movie-related details including the attic, library, alchemy room, Saruman’s throne room, entrance hall and dungeon. This exclusive model stars in some of the most iconic scenes from The Lord of the Rings movies. Swoop down with the Great Eagle and rescue stranded Gandalf the Grey from his tower-top prison after his defeat at the hands of the white wizard, Saruman. Build the powerful, tree-like Ent, with poseable limbs and cool swinging arm function, then attack the Uruk-hai and Orc Pitmaster while Saruman and his servant Grima Wormtongue take refuge high in the tower. The Tower of Orthanc is a must-have model for any The Lord of the Rings collection! Includes a Great Eagle, buildable Ent figure and 5 minifigures with weapons: Saruman with kirtle outfit, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf the Grey, an Uruk-hai and the Orc Pitmaster

The rest can be viewed here at Brickset.
It's mostly a bunch of buildable and poseable Ents (seriously Lego?). Anyway, in my opinion, this set looks great... Until your eyes drift down to the price tag. I know this set is probably worth about $200 but it might be kind of annoying for any people out there who are trying to collect all of the Lord of the Rings theme (I know one of these people personally as a matter of fact).
There are several other Lego-submitted photos of this set at the Brickset Flickr photostream:

Minifigures Series 11, Mr. Gold, Superman, Lone Ranger, and Star Wars!

Hi everyone! I have been sick for a few days now so I wasn't able to post anything new, but hopefully this is new enough.
- Minifigures Series 11
It's official, Minifigures Series 11 will be released later this year, 2013. It was revealed by the French Amazon website (no pictures yet) along with a brief, roughly translated, description:

"With 16 new figures in Series 11 Special, the LEGO collection continues to grow. Each figure is packed in a bag 'mystery' and accompanied by special accessories, a base and ask for a booklet. Inspired by movies, sports, history or everyday life, this collection includes: a scientist, a female robot, evil, a jazz man, an elf, a policeman, a Bavarian woman, a waitress, a scarecrow, a barbarian, a welder, a mountaineer, a grandmother, a warrior tiki man and gingerbread."

These weren't the expected minifigures but I'll have more information in the near future most likely.

A picture of the infamous creature.
- Mr. Gold or should I say Mr. Ripoff? (4/16/2013)
Mr. Gold... Yep... It's him, he's struck his first blow on ebay. I don't know who bought these or why they did, but there were two Mr. Golds sold by the same person on ebay today (4/16/2013) for €999.00, in other words: $1,307.09 USD! What!? That's over one thousand dollars! What's with this person!? I must have missed something because I didn't think Mr. Gold was made of real pure gold. I thought it must have been some sort of gold coating. I mean... No, I'm done with this.

- 76009 Superman Black Zero Escape

Lego to open factory in China + 70014 Picture + New search box @ Lego Spy!

Lego Factory
A while ago Lego announced that they would be opening a factory in China. I didn't really post information on it here because there wasn't really much information. But today (4/11/2013) I stumbled upon an article at a website called The Wall Street Journal (I won't bother posting a link here because you have to pay. So stupid.) with an article on this subject. Just take my word for what I'm saying here because unless you have signed up for TWSJ you will have to believe what I say. Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, CEO of Lego, stated that the factory in China, "will not be producing products for North America and Europe" and that the profits they have had in Asia have been going up by about 50% annually and that's why they have decided to establish the factory there. I feel... Relieved I suppose that the products won't be shipped to North America and Europe but instead will be continued to be produced in Lego's previous factories.

70014 The Croc Swamp Hideout (The Legends of Chima
Now we have a new image for 70014 The Croc Swamp Hideout. As far as I can tell, the set is an over sized  crocodile ready to swallow you whole! Not exactly but that's what most of the set is, a large crocodile head, in a swamp, apparently a hideout. As you can probably tell from that, I'm not crazy about The Legends of Chima but I see how it would appeal to a fan of the theme. Pictures: -Eurobricks- -Brickset-

It is by no means what the box will look like.

Polls

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd mention that it is absolutely OK to enter the poll on the right side of this page, so if you're just checking up on news and such or just visiting the website on Blogger just click your answer and click enter poll. There is no trick, I swear, you don't have to be logged into anything, your computer won't be bombarded with ads or anything, just click twice: done. The final votes will be posted at the end of the poll so everyone can see the results! The current poll now (as of 4/6/2013) is "Who is your favorite Series 10 minifigure? 3/4". After that I'll have the last part of that poll (Part 4/4), and it will be cool to see everyone's opinions on that! Also I thought I'd mention that Minifigures Series 10 is now on the Lego website here! Anyway, this is the Lego Spy, out. Happy polling!

Confirmed: Lego to discontinue 9516 Jabba's Palace in 2014!

It's true, Lego's Jabba's Palace will be removed from purchase on all major websites and from stores across the world. Nope, this isn't an April Fools joke. Following after the racist claims by some Muslims, Lego CLAIMS something like this:
Lego: "Yeah yeah yeah, Jabba's Palace was scheduled to be discontinued in early 2014 anyway." Lego Spy (me) makes unconvinced look. Lego Spy: "If that's so, what about the other Star Wars sets from 9516's wave?" Lego: "Er..." (View Update)
Seriously, what about the other sets from that wave? I love Lego and all but it seems like something's going on. Anyway, it's unfortunate, but, it's Lego's choice so I guess we have to live with it. This is the Lego SPy, out.
*Coincidentally, 9516 Jabba's Palace is the number 2 top selling item on the United States Lego Shop website! (As of: 4/4/2013)
UPDATE 4/6/2013: Gosh! I hope Lego doesn't decide to discontinue all of Jabba's Palace's wave!

Preliminary Image for 75024

Yeah, this is it, the best picture...
Yesterday, a German website (eggersmann-modellautos.de's page has a 404 error, for a good picture: -Groove Bricks-) revealed the first image of the remaining two Star Wars sets without images: 75024 HH-87 Starhopper (The other set is 75025 Jedi Defender-Class Cruiser). Then The set is really hard to see so there isn't much to say for it yet but I guess it includes a disguised Obi-Wan Kenobi, Cad Bane, and a Nikto Guard. The coloration look pretty nice too and should be great for MOCs (My-Own-Creations if you're new to that abbreviation)! This set will be somewhere around $30-$40 USD. This is the Lego Spy, out.

DC Super Heroes

Finally we get a picture of one of the new Superman: Man of Steel Lego sets (other than 76002, which is late news). We have 76003 Battle of Smallville today and it looks great! They details are great, the minifigures are especially wonderful, and some great pieces for MOCs too! The minifigures (as stated before)... They're just amazing. The enemies armor look great for MOCs, the helmets are epic, and those new guns are so cool! Superman looks nice too, with his shining armor and fire red cape! And the army guy, well, we'll skip over that... (He's bald! What an outrage!) The vehicles are great too with lots of rare and uncommon pieces (418 pieces included), and for $50 (USD), you can't spend your money on a better set right now in my opinion! Links to better pictures: -Flickr- -Brickset-

Also, today we have 76002 Superman Metropolis Showdown which I thought was going to be another stinking $20 ripoff. But no! It will be sold at $12.99 (USD)! I think most people thought it was going to be $20 so thank goodness it's not! This set (considering the price) is really nice! I mean, seriously, 119 pieces for a $12.99 set is unheard of! Therefore I believe I will be getting bothe of these new Superman sets! This is the Lego Spy, out. Links to better pictures: -Flickr- -Brickset-

Labels

Hi everyone, I now have the site updated with Labels. I will have them updated according to recent news, so if you need a quick search choose the Label and view the posts. Also note this is sort of a test, please comment on this video if you would like all the Labels shown instead of just ones on current events. If there are a enough people with this problem I'll definitely consider changing that around somehow.

Galaxy Squad Pictures

Here are just a few new pictures of the new Galaxy Squad sets scheduled for this Summer (United States).
The new sets look great, prices too. One exception: 70708 Hive Crawler, the price seems a bit steep in my opinion ($69.99 USD).  The other problem with it is that, unfortunately, It's my favorite set :-(  For review, the sets are:
     Set                                               Price*
 • 70706 Crater Crawler                       $19.99 USD
 • 70707 CLS-89 Eradicator Mech        $39.99 USD
 • 70708 Hive Crawler                          $69.99 USD
 • 70709 Galactic Titan                        $99.99 USD
*All prices subject to change

Marvel Super Heroes

The new Marvel Super Heroes sets have made a sneaky entrance to Lego.com and are now available for purchase. The sets are as listed:
76008 Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown  $12.99 USD (That's a long name!)
76006 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle  $19.99 USD (Name = ???)
76007 Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack  $39.99 USD (What's with these names!?)
All the sets are based on the new Iron Man 3 movie and the names of these sets must somehow be related to the movie.
Lego Spy Note: What's up with the product numbers here? Usually sets are numbered lower to higher based on price (EX: 100 = $12.99, 101 = $19.99, 102 = $24.99 etc.). But here they're all mixed up: 76006 is $19.99, 76007 $39.99, and 76008 is... $12.99? Could this be intentional or was there a mix up?

Laval's Journey

Click to view larger (this is kind of a strange picture)
Here's a little bit of news I thought might interest any Legends of Chima fans. The Lego Legends of Chima Laval's Journey is scheduled for release later this year and now we have a little (mind what I said there: a little) news on that revealed on Lego.com. It basically states: "Discover the Legend of the Triple Chi Armour!" and below that it says:

"Get ready for an epic adventure as Laval races to unlock the secret of the legendary triple-Chi armour before Cragger can manipulate its awesome power to threaten the balance of Chima itself!

Laval and his allies will explore Lion Temple, Eagle Spire, Gorilla Forrest, Rhino Quary, Croc Swamp and more as they harness the power of Chi to leap, swing, fly and fight through 15 levels of intense action!

Can Laval discover the truth behind the legend of the triple-Chi before it’s too late?"

Well, It's kind of weird with this whole, "triple-Chi armor thing that apparently has the power to manipulate its awesome power to tip the balance of Chi itself" given the fact that there hasn't been any mention of it before. Anyway, I guess this will be a handheld exclusive, listing only the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS, and the Playstation Vita. Click here for a link to the Lego.com page.

Lego Indiana Jones: 7628 Peril in Peru

Here is my 3rd installment in my Old Set Review series. Peril in Peru was released in 2008 as part of the Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (KotCS) theme. It includes 625 pieces, its suggested retail was $49.99, and was available at Lego.com for just over a year (Summer 2008 - Summer 2009) as a limited edition set. The Panagra Airways plane overall is very nice (it even represents a real Panagra plane), the design is nice, a few rare/uncommon pieces, and an overall nice durability. However, the stickers for the windows on the side don't appear yellow, it's more of a yellow green (when you rub the sticker down so it stays). The cargo and passenger areas are also somewhat cramped, fitting only minifigures with hats/hair when they're sitting down, there aren't seats either. The airport tractor is nice too with plenty of detail. The Russian car is nice too. Now for the minifigures: Indiana Jones:... Well, ok this is getting kind of generic, same hat, same head, same torso, same legs, and, you guessed it, same messenger bag. Irina Spalko: nice hair exclusive to Irina, nice head that doesn't look quite like Spalko, great torso for MOCs, light gray legs are plain but ok. Mutt Williams: some nice hair, nice Mutt Williams head, great torso, and some uncommon dark blue legs. One of two of the exact same two Russian guards included in KotCS sets. Colonel Dovchenko: nice hat, Colonel face!, great torso for war characters, and some tan legs, I also want to mention the gun, it's exclusive to Dovchenko and 7626 Jungle Cutter and is really, really great. Pilot: nice white hat, great tuxedo like torso, and some more uncommon dark blue legs. This set is really nice, and makes a great addition to any minifigure scale plane collection, given the fact that it's based on a real kind of plane. This is the Lego Spy, out.

Minifigures Series 10!

Hey everyone, sorry this is a little late. Finally the series 10 Minifigures have an official picture! And the figures have been confirmed. Below I'll have my personal thoughts on this series' minifigs!\
(from left to right)
- Nerd Girl: She's ok, I like her printed cup and book, nice hair too.
- Old Man: I think everyone just has to love that head piece right? Wrong. Like the newspaper and clothes though.
- Native American Warrior: Pretty nice, like the mohawk and ax.
- Painter: He's ok, clothes would be great if you're going for a paintball MOC.
- Paintball Gunner: I love the paintball gun, and the clothes look pretty nice as well.
- Ancient Warrior Woman: I really like the shield, spear, and clothes. (Is it just a coincidence or what's the sailor's seagull flying around her for?)
- Sailor: Very nice seagull and hat. Like the shirt too, the binoculars aren't anything special though.
- Ancient Warrior: I like his helmet, the clothes, and the cape. Nice minifigure.
- Catcher: Stackers! I really like the glove and the new hat design is great as well.
- Medusa: Really like the hair and (YES!) finally we have a snake body for Series Minifigures.
- Clown: Pretty nice, I see the black neck piece being helpful.
- Skydiver: .......Uh......Er.... I'm not seeing much with this. Maybe the clothes could be used but, yeah.
- Cool Girl: I completely love the chihuahua and her iPhone, clothes and hair, this is a need. I feel an Apple store MOC coming on.
- Bee Lady: Ok I think this (insert animal name here) Guy theme just gets wackier and wackier!
- "Golden Chase" Minifigure: No official name yet, but it looks pretty neat. I hope it's gold gold color and not ... Gold colored.
Revolutionary Minuteman (?): I don't know exactly what's going on here. When I saw some preliminary images for this I thought he was a judge (series 8) but he still looks like one with the wig but, that gun.. Hmm.
- Motorcycle/Car Repair Guy: Pretty plain but it's ok.
